The best way to get a feel for CrateDB is by deploying a free trial cluster. It will be available for 14 days, giving you access to 96 GB of storage and all the features of CrateDB Cloud.

In order to deploy your free trial cluster, first create a CrateDB Cloud account. In order to do that, follow the steps in this article.

Once you have your account ready, you will land up on this page of the CrateDB Cloud Console:

Set up a name for your Organization and select "Create organization".

You will see a screen like the one below. Here, click on "Start a free 14-day trial cluster".

You will be directed to the cluster configuration wizard.

First, define a name for your project, and press next.

Now, it's time to fill out the cluster name and the username and password associated with this particular cluster. This is important: you will be asked these credentials for accessing the cluster, for connecting it to other tools, and so on.

💡As you can see, your cluster password requires 24-characters. This is necessary to assure data security, but if you don't want to come up with a password that long, press on "Auto-generate password". An automatic password will be generated for you. (You will have the chance to view it for your records later.)

Once you have defined the cluster username and password, press "Next". You will see a screen summarizing all your settings; if everything looks good, click on "Deploy". Your free trial cluster is now ready!

Before being redirected to the console, will see a pop-up message similar to this one:

Here, you can view the credentials you defined earlier (including the 24-character password) and save them for your records.

One last thing: it may take a few minutes for your cluster to be ready. A "Setting up cluster status" will show while the cluster is being deployed. After a while, the status will change to "Available".

Your free trial cluster is now ready to go!
